Director of Assistive Technology and Preview Services

Diana Foster Carl, M.A., L.S.S.P., is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and has more than 30 years of experience in various capacities in public education. She is currently contracting with CAST as the Special Projects Coordinator for the AIM Consortium. Carl is a former Director of Special Education Services at Region 4 Education Service Center  in Houston, Texas.  For eleven years she served as the lead facilitator of the Texas Assistive Technology Network (TATN), a statewide leadership function of the Texas Education Agency and a collaborative project between the twenty educational service centers in Texas.

Her accomplishments include assistive technology leadership roles in national, statewide and regional organizations.  Carl serves on advisory boards including the National Center for Technology Integration, the National Assistive Technology Research Institute, the Texas Technology Access Project, and the ATSTAR Project.  She is a founding member of the Quality Indicators in Assistive Technology (QIAT) Consortium and serves on the QIAT Leadership Team. Carl is a contributing author to the Handbook of Special Education Technology Research and Practice edited by Edyburn, D., Higgins, K., and Boone, R.  She is a frequently invited speaker at national, state and local conferences.
